What is a Grid Tied Solar System?

A grid tied solar system is, as the name implies, a system that is connected to your existing grid. It still turns solar energy into power for your home, but offers a number of extra advantages by being hooked into your local system.

How Does a Solar Power Grid Tie Work?

In a grid tied solar system, you’ll have your solar panels tied directly into your existing grid, which acts as a part of the overall system. Your panels will focus on powering your home first; then, any extra energy is fed back into the grid. Your utility company will pay close attention to how much energy your system is putting back into your grid. Then, they’ll pay you for however much extra energy you put back into the system.

What Are the Benefits of a Grid Tie System?
